TopicCrunch - More about the TopicCrunch Domain-ranking search
<<Previous: Using TopicCrunch Next: Sleep time>>

This option allows you to check the highest position a specified domain achieves on the search engines selected, when searching for any of the one to four variations of keywords that you provide.

For example, you may own the domain golfdrivers4me.com and you want to know where it is in the search engine result pages (SERPs) So you might be searching for "golf driver" and "golf drivers". The domain-ranking search can tell you which hit your domain appears as (say, the 11th entry, or the 98th), for either "golf driver" or "golf drivers" on each of Google, Yahoo and MSN.

If you know that you are near the top in all engines, you need only request 20 or 30 hits. If you have no idea where your entry appears, ask for 1,000 hits. The search engines will not show anything beyond 1,000 (and MSN won't usually go beyond 500). As soon as TopicCrunch finds a hit, it stops looking for that search term in that search engine.
