Most occurrences can be dragged to an application window. In other words if you have an MS Word document as an occurrence, and you drag it from the occurrence list in Topic Centre to a Word window that is already open, the Word file will open normally. This does not work for text files dragged to WordPad. It will be necessary to open such files by double-clicking on the entry in the occurrence list.
Target: We hope to find out why WordPad is different from so many other applications and fix the bug later.

If double-clicking is not possible because of the association settings on your computer, you can copy the file to your desktop (using the right-click pop-up menu item 'Copy to desktop') and drag it to a WordPad window from there.
