To use 3D Topicscape's stunning graphics, you have to have modern graphics hardware and software installed on your PC. We've created a tiny, simple program called "glVersion" that will tell you in seconds if you can run 3D Topicscape. The program simply checks your computer for the proper hardware and software. You should not need to know the detailed technical specification of your computer, but we do state technical requirements below, in case you're interested.

If you experience a problem, we recommend downloading the latest drivers from the supplier of your graphics card. The software glVersion will give web links that will usually help you to find the latest drivers.

Of course, you will need 3D Topicscape itself to test its functionality. That's why we offer a trial version.

3.	Install by double-clicking the saved exe file.

To run Topicscape, we recommend 256MB of RAM or more (512MB desirable), and at least a 1GHz processor. A good graphics adapter purchased in the last year or so is a key requirement as Topicscape works in pseudo-3D. Your graphics adapter must support 3D, have a minimum of 32MB RAM on board and have a driver installed that supports at least OpenGL ‘1.2 with extensions’ (this is equivalent to OpenGL 1.3).

Before concluding that your computer cannot run Topicscape, we recommend checking that the drivers installed on your computer are the latest for your graphics adapter. Topicscape’s web page at http://www.topicscape.com/graphics has links to download pages for up-to-the-minute drivers of major graphics manufacturers’. It also has a simple guide to finding out which graphics manufacturer’s chip set your computer uses.

On some graphics cards, Topicscape will run slowly if you have the graphics color quality set to 16-bit. Please try changing it to 32-bit.

Topicscape Pro runs at present on Windows® XP, and Windows® 2000 and Topicscape Lite runs on Windows® XP, Windows® 2000 and Windows® 98SE. Eventually we plan a Mac version, but that is some way off.
