3D Topicscape Pro can handle searches for words including all the following Latin alphabet characters with diacritics and ligatures:

Á Â Ã Ä Å Æ Ç È É Ê Ë Ì Í Î Ï Ð Ñ Ò Ó Ô Õ Ö Ø Ù Ú Û Ü Ý Þ ß

à á â ã ä å æ ç è é ê ë ì í î ï ð ñ ò ó ô õ ö ø ù ú û ü ý þ ÿ

As with Topicscape searches using the plain Latin alphabet, the search will ignore case, so a search for señor will match a topic called SEÑOR MARQUES when searching in topic names, occurrence names or descriptions and other information stored directly in Topicscape.

However, when searching in file content using Topicscape' own content search, the case will be significant. This does not apply to file content searches where the user has chosen to link Topicscape to Google Desktop Search or Windows Search. In those cases, the behavior of the Google or Microsoft software will be as specified by Google or Microsoft.

Polish characters

The following characters used in Polish: ą ć ę ł ń ś ż ź cannot be handled by Topicscape if they occur in filenames of files imported into Topicscape. They give two problems:

  1. They can be shown correctly in topic and occurrence names when first made, but when Topicscape is closed and reopened again, they appear in topic names in the 'Scape or Map as spaces (in occurrence names they show correctly); and
  2. If a file is brought into Topicscape and its filename contains one or more of those characters, then the occurrence cannot be opened from Topicscape.
