This is what has changed in the latest version of Topicscape. WHAT'S NEW, 3D Topicscape Pro 2.7 05/17/2010 • Bug fix release: The Outlook connection was not working in 64-bit versions of Topicscape Pro. This required a change in Windows Registry handling and that change was made in the installer, not in Topicscape itself, so the Topicscape build number has not changed. You only need to download the latest version if you are using Outlook with Topicscape, *and* you are running 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows Vista. WHAT WAS NEW, 3D Topicscape Pro 2.7 04/26/2010 • Bug fix release: The Halo menu was not working on some lists, and clicking history occurrence items in some cases did not open them. WHAT WAS NEW, 3D Topicscape Pro 2.7 04/05/2010 • You can now arrange topics so that the cones or rectangles in the information landscape are sequenced according to your choice, rather than being in alphabetical order … or date … or any of the other fixed sequences provided in past versions. You can still select one of the fixed-sequence views, and you can go back to your manual re-arrangement any time. To reposition a topic, first click on the cone or rectangle and hold the mouse button down until its color changes. Then use the mouse wheel or the up/down, left/ right cursor movement keys. When the topic is where you want it to be, click on it or press the Enter key. • You now have more fine-grained control over the level of detail shown: Whether children and grandchildren of a topic are shown or not. Topicscape has always supported three levels of detail, but the level selected applies to everything visible. Now you can control the level of detail shown, topic by topic. This is done with a new item in the right-click topic menu: "Hide children". This can be applied to children and grandchildren of the Current Topic, and to siblings of the Current Topic. When you hide children of a topic, an orange 'plus' button appears on that topic. When orange, it is active - click it to show all the children that were hidden. • This version requires database changes, so the first time you use it on each Topicscape it will convert the Topicscape's .3DT file. After the conversion, your Topicscape files will still be compatible with versions 2.0 to 2.6. WHAT WAS NEW, 3D Topicscape Pro 2.6 02/05/2010 • There is a new option in the installer to add two buttons to your browser toolbar (Internet Explorer or FireFox). One will send a shortcut to the page you're viewing to the Topicscape Box, the other will send an instruction to Topicscape Box to make an MHT (Internet Archive) file of the page you're viewing. You can later open the Topicscape Box and drag them to the appropriate Topicscape. The MHT file will include the panel that Topicscape adds (and browsers do not) to show the source of the page. You will see a new panel during installation that allows you to choose whether to install these buttons, and for which browsers. • Bug fixes: Previously when the Halo Menu was in use, it was very difficult to select the association line. Topicscape occasionally did not get the focus when a file or favicon was dragged over its window, though topics did light up in blue to show that Topicscape recognized the drag. WHAT WAS NEW, 3D Topicscape Pro 2.5 01/25/2010 Bug fixes: Topic group footprints did not always update when required. Drag favicon over Topicscape window did not always cause the focus to switch to Topicscape. WHAT WAS NEW, 3D Topicscape Pro 2.5 01/08/2010 Bug fixes: Previously, instructing Topicscape to place the "My Topicscapes" folder in the root folder of any partition on Vista or Windows 7 prevented Topicscape and Topicscape Box from working. Dropping floating topics on 2D Hit or History lists did not work. Soft hyphens did not always show up with blue background when editing topic names. Dragging green dot over corner of 2D topics caused flashing. Click to make current did not work when using Google Earth controls on Topicscape Orphans cone and Topicscape Islands post. WHAT WAS NEW, 3D Topicscape Pro 2.5 12/30/2009 • The Help summary contains a list of contents of the main Help. This has been updated to match the User's Guide in the Topicscape Wiki, the reorganization and re-writing of which is now complete. • This release also contains a few minor bug fixes. WHAT WAS NEW, 3D Topicscape Pro 2.5 12/15/2009 Version 2.5 is a major upgrade (free to all purchasers of 2.0) and introduces an entirely new way of viewing your Topicscapes. Full detail with pictures here: http://www.topicscape.com/Topicscape-Pro/whatsnew.php • Topicscape now has a 2D option. Flying in the 2D Map is similar to Coolirisฎ: The Map swings, to allow you to see where you are going, before it starts to move. • Flying controls: New Googleฎ Earth-style controls to fly and zoom in 3D. (Classic Topicscape controls are still there.) There are Cooliris and alternative controls for 2D. And if you don't like these, just hold the Ctrl key down as you fly, and you will slide instead. • Flip backwards and forwards from 2D to 3D as you wish. • See contents of topics anywhere by hovering the mouse-cursor over the topmost Halo menu icon, a 2D topic's peeled back corner or a 3D topic's red flash. Shows a list of occurrence names from the topics in the landscape or Map, search results, history list, and tag pool. From contents list, open occurrences or see previews where available. So previews of occurrences are now visible wherever an occurrence item can be seen (where Windows makes one available to Topicscape). • When using Google Earth or Cooliris-style controls: - left-click on the red flash (3D), or the peeled corner (2D) to go to topic's Topic Center; - hover over the flash or peeled corner to see contents; - hover over a topic to select it; and - click on a topic to make it into the Current Topic. • When using alternative 2D flying or classic Topicscape 3D flying: - click a topic to select it; - left-click on the red flash (3D), or the peeled corner (2D) to see contents; - double-left click a topic to go to its Topic Center; and - double-right click on it to make it current. • 2D maps are customizable, and appearance can be tied to a particular Topicscape. • Topic name plates can have black lettering on a white background or the reverse, in 2D or 3D. • In 2D select one of your own images for the background. • Tunnel viewing improved: Where a topic with loose associations is selected, the View button on the Details Panel now shows a neater, small context menu so you can view the loose associations and make one current. • There is another Home position: Alt+Home now provides a view that's useful if the Current Topic is low down the window in 2D or 3D. • Moving "My Topicscapes": On the first run of Topicscape, you are asked where to put a folder called "My Topicscapes" that will, be the base for all of your Topicscapes' folders and files. Now, you can move or rename this folder with an item in the Tools menu: Transfer Topicscape's base folder ('My Topicscapes'). The first time you use it, a message will appear, to tell you that a small download is about to begin. Special update: • Added 07/17/2009: Fix for demo on certain configurations of the German version of Microsoft Windows. WHAT WAS NEW, 3D Topicscape Pro 2.15 06/30/2009 • When you save any kind of web page - as an Internet shortcut, a simple HTML file or a web archive (MHT file) - Topicscape routinely makes a clickable link for you in the "Source" field of the Details Panel. In the past, if you exported all or part of a Topicscape to HTML or OPML, the Source field was included, but it was plain text. This has now been made into a clickable hyperlink that will open the appropriate page. • The Description+ button [+] button in the Details Panel is initally blue-gray for each topic or occurrence. When you added a Description+ in the past, the button turned green. This has turned out not to be noticeable enough so now it will show as orange if a Description+ is present. The "Tag" button will now also be orange when the topic or occurrence has a tag. • The responsiveness of the swinging panels has been tuned. • Two minor bugs have been fixed. -------------------------------------------------------------- 3D Topicscape and any authorized copies that you make are the intellectual property of and are owned by 3D-Scape Limited and its suppliers.
