The jewelry designer's tale
Alicia is a jewelry designer. She organized her collection of pictures of both her own and reference designs as a source box for new ideas.
Already she has the main structure mapped out and has started adding images of designs. Each design is classified under its appearance, stone type, setting, markets for which it is suitable, type of item and, where applicable, the name of the magazine from which the image came.
As well as design-pictures, she files reference information about many aspects of jewelry manufacture, such as precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals and clasp types.
She can focus on the detail of semi-precious stones.
And when a buyer requests a specific type of product (heart-shaped pendant, for example), she can view all the images of heart-shaped designs in her record by making "Concept / Appearance" the current (main) topic and homing in on "Heart Shape".
She can find an item by keyword, or by searching by concept under, in this example, ladies ring or claw setting, or gold or topaz or anniversary theme, or even by remembering that this was an item from the Basel Fair. (Note that no image-viewing software - like Corel Photo-Paint shown here - is included with Topicscape, but double-clicking on an occurrence line will start up whichever software is associated on your computer with that file type.)
Alicia found that 3D Topicscape was a practical solution to the problems of having an overwhelming library of designs and reference information that had to be categorized. Now her company can give quick responses to customers' requests for design ideas. You need to use 3D Topicscape yourself to truly understand how it allows you to see the relationships between things and how it encourages you to get organized too.
Download 3D Topicscape now, and have that experience yourself. Want more information first? You can go to our overview of 3D Topicscape.
